Craig Rocks Montreal

All @CraigyFerg has to do is walk on stage to get a standing ovation! Wow! #JFLcraigyferg

That was the tweet from the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal on Saturday night as Craig Ferguson hosted the first two shows.  Craig acted as emcee, inviting comedians from around the world to strut their stuff on stage, including Randy Kagan.  It must have been nice to have Craig open for him for a night! Also appearing in Montreal was the @nerdist Chris Hardwick.  Craig tweeted about their adventures on Saturday and played around with the “Fatbooth” app to make Chris’ face match the day’s activities:

Taking @nerdist to Beauty’s diner in Montreal. So long skinny nerd ahhahaha! // It seems @nerdist enjoyed his pancakes. #fatbooth http://twitpic.com/5ydnww

Chris tweeted:

Here is the meal @CraigyFerg is trying to fatten me up with #IsHeAWitch #Deliciousness #LeTitsNow http://t.co/7I1Ii4O

Craig even sent a nice view of some of the festival area from his vantage point on Saturday afternoon:

http://yfrog.com/klt0iaqj Montreal Comedy Festival from my hotel room.

And guess who put his multilingual skills to work? The folks at the comedy festival tweeted:

Surprise appearance from @eddieizzard to introduce @CraigyFerg in French! #JFLcraigyferg

Next up for Craig is a solo stand up comedy show in Boston before he takes his summer break. We’re not sure who is opening for Craig on Sunday, since Randy Kagan is working in Montreal. We’ll pass along details when we find out.

Toronto Review
MILD SPOILERS:  The website Canoe.ca reviewed Craig’s stand up show in Toronto on Friday night.  The review contains some spoilers about Craig’s topics in his stand up routine, so if you’re planning to see the show in Boston on Sunday or near Minneapolis in September, you may want to skip it.

Paris Preview Video
[stextbox id=”custom”]

CBS has sent out a preview video for Craig’s week of shows in Paris. It contains a few spoilers about locations and guests, as well as a couple of “insider” video clips. If you’d rather wait until next week to be surprised, do not click the arrow.

SPOILER ALERT!

End of July Holidays

JK Rowling

There aren’t many holidays for the last weekend in July that we could find but Saturday, July 30th is Independence Day for the island nation of Vanuatu in the South Pacific.  It is also the birthday of sculptor Henry Moore and baseball’s Casey Stengel.  Sunday, July 31st is the start of Ramadan at sundown in the Muslim faith, it is the anniversary of the US Patent Office and the birthday of Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

Craig in Canada
Craig Ferguson performed a live stand up comedy show at Massey Hall in Toronto on Friday evening and will be hosting two shows featuring comedians from around the world at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal on Saturday before returning to Boston for a solo show on Sunday.  We’re asking roboskellies in the audience at this weekend’s shows to send us your pictures and stories to share with the RSA.  (Unfortunately, no photography was allowed during the show in Toronto.)  After this weekend, Craig has only two more live shows on the schedule for 2011.  You can reach us from our Contact page or tweet us @RSA_News.

Craig enjoyed Toronto (thanks to the RSA’s @pezzylicious for a photo of the stage) and tweeted after his show:

Well Toronto you were fabulous. You left me panting and hungry for more. I feel so guilty leaving you for Montreal. #itsnotyouitsme.

And Craig’s opening act for the Toronto show, comedian Mark Forward tweeted:

Thank you to @CraigyFerg. Honestly so kind, had so much fun. And watched him rip it up. Thanks again for the opportunity.

Fun on Today
Craig had fun on NBC’s Today Show Friday morning.  He appeared in the show’s fourth hour, talking about the upcoming Paris episodes of the Late Late Show and telling a wonderful story about meeting his wife Megan for the first time at an event in New York.

Video courtesy: NBC

Examiner.com has a story about Craig’s Today Show appearance. He also appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly on Friday morning:

Video courtesy: Buena Vista Television

DVR Alert:  Craig will appear on the CBS daytime show The Talk on Monday, August 1st.  Check local listings for the time “in your region”.  Since he will be on his summer break, we’re guessing this was a pre-taped segment.

Montreal Looking Forward to Craig
The Montreal Gazette has a long and detailed interview with Craig, leading up to his appearances on stage Saturday night.  Thanks to the RSA’s @MissGraoully for the link.

Boston Contest!
The Wilbur Theatre offered a pair of tickets to Craig’s show in Boston on Sunday.  To enter the contest, you must have posted a puppet lip-syncing video to the theater’s Facebook page by 1pm ET on Saturday. The contest is now closed.

More Who For You
BBC America’s Anglophenia blog enjoyed Karen Gillan‘s interview on the Late Late Show and reminded its readers about Matt Smith‘s appearance on the show Friday night.

Dragon on HBO, Sharks on Discovery
The animated film How To Train Your Dragon, featuring the voice talents of Craig Ferguson has been available on demand from HBO but will be broadcast on the full HBO network on Sunday, July 31st.  Check local listings for the time “in your region”.  Thanks to the RSA’s @NancyInTampa for the heads up.  And don’t forget, you can see Craig’s episode of Shark Week from last year on the Discovery Channel Sunday, July 31st at 11am ET and Monday, August 1st at 6pm ET.

Tonight’s Guests
Friday on the Late Late Show, Craig’s guests are fashion designer Tim Gunn and the eleventh Doctor Who, actor Matt Smith.  The much-anticipated Paris episodes will air on CBS next week!

Craig In Canada
Rather than flying, it appears Craig Ferguson ventured to Canada via highway, based on the tweet he sent Thursday:

http://yfrog.com/h0m34zqj Entering a strange and magical land.

This probably means Craig taped (shh!) his appearances on NBC’s Today Show and Live with Regis and Kelly, both of which air Friday.  The Today Show runs from 7am-11am, so Craig’s interview could appear at any time… although if tradition holds, it will probably be in the latter half of the second hour (check local listings for the time “in your region”).  It also would mean we won’t see any additional Craig sightings in New York this week.  The RSA’s @colleen_byrne complied several photos of Craig arriving at the Ed Sullivan Theater for Wednesday’s appearance on Late Night with David Letterman.

If you are in Toronto Friday, Montreal on Saturday or Boston on Sunday, we would welcome your pictures and stories of seeing Craig.  Just drop us a note on our Contact page or tweet us @RSA_News to share your story with the rest of the RSA!

And speaking of Twitter, Craig has now surpassed 800,000 followers.

Rouge Proves Rough for Censors
Columbus, Indiana’s The Republic newspaper has an article about Craig, including a tidbit about how the show is waiting to hear from network censors about how much of the Moulin Rouge dance sequence can be left in the show, due to scantily clad dancers.  Meanwhile, Zap2It.com has another article about the upcoming Paris episodes.

Geoff and Josh Tweeting the Night Away
Wednesday night, fans had a chance to take part in a Q & A session with Geoff Peterson on Twitter, along with Josh Robert Thompson.  You can read their Twitter streams to see the conversations.  Josh also asked fans to tune in for Thursday’s episode on Conan on TBS:

Listen for my voice on tonight’s @ConanOBrien. It’s very Freeman-esque…

Who For You
Karen Gillan‘s appearance on the Late Late Show Tuesday was noticed by DoctorWhoTV.co.uk,  FlickFilosopher.com, and Anglotopia.net, who also promoted Matt Smith‘s appearance on Friday.

Tonight’s Guests
Thursday, on the Late Late Show, Craig welcomes actress Lisa Kudrow and author Ben Mezrich.  Friday, watch for fashion designer Tim Gunn (Tim Gunn) and actor Matt Smith.

The guest list for Paris has been updated, with CBS releasing some basic details about next week’s shows.  Some guests are attached to certain days, others are are being promoted to appear sometime during the week, along with a few surprises.  We’ll continue to update our Guests page as more information comes out.

Craig on Letterman Wednesday
Craig Ferguson appears on Late Night with David Letterman on Wednesday night, promoting the upcoming Paris episodes of the Late Late Show and maybe Winnie The Pooh, which is about to enter its third weekend in wide release.  We’ve seen nothing on Craig’s schedule for Thursday but on Friday, he’ll be on NBC’s Today Show and the syndicated talk show Live with Regis and Kelly before flying to Toronto for a live stand up show.  Craig’s assistant Rebecca Tucker tweeted:

Don’t miss Craig on Letterman tonight!

And CBS tweeted:

Will Dave hear all about @CraigyFerg‘s #LateLateShow trip to Paris? Oui! @Late_Show 2nite http://t.co/Bt7LZeZ http://t.co/HBLlShK

Here’s a preview of Wednesday’s show:

Tweet Geoff a Question
Wednesday is “Tweet Geoff a Question” time, tweeted Geoff Peterson:

It’s “TWEET GEOFF A QUESTION” – Tonight at 7PST/10EST…in your pants.

Josh Robert Thompson answered some questions earlier on Wednesday and invited people to subscribe to his YouTube channel:

RT @bec_giddy Hey, where do you actually sit while your doing Geoff on the LLS? // I stand somewhere near lesbian row…

Opening in Toronto
Craig’s usual opening act, Randy Kagan will be working at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal this week, so another new comedian, Mark Forward has been tapped to open for Craig in Toronto.  He tweeted:

Opening for @craigyferg at Massey Hall on Friday. Very honored and excited. Cheers.

We have not yet heard if Mark, Randy or another comedian will be opening for Craig in Boston.  The website TorontoLife.com briefly previews Craig’s upcoming stand up comedy show at Massey Hall.

Ex Post Facto
As usual, days or weeks behind on any news that doesn’t involved the word “scandal”, the New York Post finally got around to reporting on Craig’s taping pilot episodes of Celebrity Name Game for CBS. And as usual they got facts wrong, using the show’s original name from when it was in development, Identity Crisis. Indiewire.com mentioned the Post story as well.

Dalek Dress
The RSA’s @NLiuOfMyself attended a taping of the LLS this week to see Doctor Who actor Matt Smith.  Instead of wearing a Dalek costume (which might not have been allowed in the studio) she had a homemade Dalek-style dress.  Looking sharp!

Tonight’s Guests
Wednesday on the Late Late Show, actress Mary McCormack joins Craig along with golf analyst David Feherty.  On Thursday, Craig welcomes actress Lisa Kudrow and author Ben Mezrich.

Paris Days
Taping wrapped up Tuesday afternoon in Los Angeles for Craig Ferguson and Late Late Show, putting the last of four new LLS episodes “in the can” to be aired between now and the end of the week.  Meanwhile, the drumbeat of press is beginning to build for the show, ahead of next week’s episodes in Paris August 1st-5th. The national audience could be big, as more people hear about what’s happening on CBS late at night. We’ve seen articles in TV By the Numbers, USA Today and CriticsChoice.com and there will be many more in the coming days.  Craig will be promoting the Paris episodes and maybe Winnie The Pooh this week, starting Wednesday night on Late Night with David Letterman at 11:35pm ET/PT.  Set those DVR’s!  Here’s a look at Craig’s schedule for the week.  The website Metro.us has an article on Craig as well.

Stand Up Weekend
After promoting his television show and latest film, Craig will head to the stage for stand up comedy shows in Toronto, Montreal and Boston this weekend.  The website Bostonist.com mentions the upcoming show at the Wilbur Theatre. Craig’s opening act, Randy Kagan tweeted that he’ll be part of the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal:

I’m gigging at the Montreal Comedy Festival July 27-30th. The French gave us one of the greatest words on Earth: DOUCHE. Merci.

Craig’s full tour schedule is on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Grant Visits Geoff
The Mythbusters Grant Imahara visited the studio at CBS Television City on Tuesday and tweeted about it:

Got to meet the lovely Karen Gillan!! #DoctorWho http://twitpic.com/5wcxdx // I showed up to work on @GeoffTheRobot and there she was. Mental note: have Geoff break down more (also, don’t tell @CraigyFerg). // Thank you @CraigyFerg and #TheLateLateShow for continuing to be awesome. Wonderful people, every one of them!

Rickles Having Fun
Legendary insult comic Don Rickles had a fun time on the show Monday night, cracking jokes with Geoff Peterson.  Josh Robert Thompson was thrilled to trade barbs with the longtime comedian.

Got to play w/ the legendary @DonRickles yesterday on #TLLS. Pretty much the highlight of my career!

Examiner.com reports on Don’s plans to appear with Frank Sinatra, Jr.  And on Tuesday, Don tweeted:

Craig – Thanks for making me look great!

Meanwhile, Josh is again reminding fans that he is not connected to any of the Geoff Peterson Facebook pages and websites out there, pretending to be him.

TO ALL #TLLS FANS: I do NOT run ANY of the Geoff Peterson Facebook pages. This is my ONLY official site: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Josh-Robert-Thompson/228195266074

Craig Mentioned On Jeopardy
The RSA’s @colleen_byrne was watching the game show Jeopardy on Tuesday.  She was playing along in the category of “Late Night TV” and saw the answer: “In 2005, this Scot took over as host of The Late Late Show”.  Of course, she knew the question was, “Who is our fearless leader, the hot mess from Loch Ness, the one, the only, Craig Ferguson?!”

Tonight’s Guests
Tuesday on the Late Late Show, Craig interviews actor William H. Macy and Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan. CBS tweeted:

William H. Macy reveals the joys of raising chickens, then Karen Gillan & @CraigyFerg talk magic on a new #LateLateShow 12:37am ET/PT 2nite!

Wednesday, Craig welcomes actress Mary McCormack and golf analyst David Feherty.

Guest Changes

Fashion designer Tim Gunn (Tim Gunn) was originally been scheduled for Friday and then was swapped into Monday’s show… but has now been bumped back to Friday, along with actor Matt Smith.  Comedian Ted Alexandro has been moved ahead to a future date.  The updated list for this is on our Guests page, along with some new confirmed names for the Paris shows, including shoe designer Christian Louboutin, TV Presenter/French royalty expert Stéphane Berne and cheesemaker Marie-Anne Cantin.

UPDATE:  Craig and friends!
Late Tuesday evening, Craig Ferguson sent a picture with LLS regular Bradley Laise, Tory Belleci from the Mythbusters and the eleventh Doctor Who, actor Matt Smith. Looks like a pretty tough group!

My gang. We’re having jackets made. http://t.co/bIu8Sr2

He also emphasized this week’s guest schedule change:

Attention WHOvians. Matt Smith on the show Friday. Karen Gillan tomorrow. Tonight is @DonRickles. He’s awesome but not a Timelord #orishe?

And he changed his avatar to a Paris picture, leading up to next week’s special shows.

DVR Alert: The Late Late Show may be delayed “in your region” on Monday evening due to President Obama and Speaker Boehner’s speeches, particularly in the East and Central time zones.  From what we can tell, the prime time schedule has shifted 25 minutes later, which means your local news will start at about 11:25pm ET/10:25pm CT, David Letterman at Midnight ET/11pm CT and Craig at about 1:02am ET/12:02am CT.  The speeches came during local news time on the west coast, so Craig should remain on time there.  Mountain time zone stations may vary from market to market but most should stay on the regular schedule.

Excitement is Building
Craig & Company are working hard to wrap things up in Los Angeles before hitting the road for a week of television appearances and stand up comedy shows.  They have one more episode of the Late Late Show to tape on Tuesday afternoon before the crew goes on summer break and Craig heads for New York City.  The show’s video editors will have three more fresh episodes at the ready for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and are putting the finishing touches on the Paris episodes for next week.  In case you missed it, our most recent post has a rundown of Craig’s busy schedule for the week.

Boston Tickets
The Wilbur Theatre in Boston tweeted today that some good tickets are available for Craig’s Sunday show.  You can check them out using the link on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Remember last time @CraigyFerg was at The Wilbur? That was crazy. Well he’s back Sunday! Good tix just released

Classic Humor
It appears we can look forward to some good old-fashioned comedy in the style of television pioneer Milton Berle from Geoff Peterson this week, according to Josh Robert Thompson:

Uncle Miltie stole the jokes, I’m stealin’ ’em back. Watch yourself tonight, Rickles! #TLLS #balls http://twitpic.com/5vtqn2

Listening to American On Purpose
A book reviewing blogger comments on the audiobook version of Craig’s autobiography, American On Purpose.  Thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb for the link.

A Missing Ring
Back in May of 2009, Craig misplaced his wedding ring, earning him some interesting looks from inside his household.  Take a look at his temporary solution and find out where he eventually found it.

Tonight’s Guests
Monday on the Late Late Show, comedian Don Rickles returns along with fashion designer Tim Gunn (Tim Gunn).  Tuesday, Craig welcomes back actor William H. Macy and Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan.  Originally scheduled for Monday, actor Matt Smith will be on the show Friday instead.

A Busy Week
Craig Ferguson has a busy week ahead, taping at least three more episodes of the Late Late Show to fill out a week of all-new shows.  Then Craig hits the road, flying to New York for some talk show appearances before heading on to Canada.  Here’s a look at his schedule:

  • Monday:  Tape two shows at CBS Television City, Los Angeles 3/4:30pm
  • Tuesday: Tape one show at CBS Television City, Los Angeles 3pm
  • Wednesday:  Guest on Late Night with David Letterman – New York City CBS 11:35pm ET/PT
  • Friday:  Guest on The Today Show – New York City NBC 7-11am (most likely 8am hour)
  • Friday:  Guest on Live with Regis and Kelly – New York City Syndicated
(check local listings for time and channel “in your region”)
  • Friday:  Live stand up comedy show – Massey Hall, Toronto 7:00pm
  • Saturday:  Host at Just For Laughs Comedy Festival – Salle Wilfrid Pelletier Montreal 7/10pm
  • Sunday:  Live stand up comedy show – Wilbur Theatre, Boston 6:00pm

Most of the Late Late Show crew will start their summer break after the taping in Los Angeles on Tuesday; Craig’s break starts after the Boston performance on Sunday.  Luckily for fans, we get one more week of all-new shows after that, August 1st-5th with the episodes taped in Paris!  Then it’ll be a couple of weeks of encore presentations before new shows resume on August 22nd.

Josh on Geoff
The voice of Geoff Peterson, Josh Robert Thompson was answering fan questions on Twitter Sunday, hinting that he and/or Geoff may pop up in future stand up shows with Craig and coming up with a great superhero name:

RT @nhdrumline11 Any chance we’ll ever see Geoff go on a stand-up tour? // Possible. You may even see ME.

RT @NCcoastgrl If Geoff could be a superhero, what would be his name be? // The Bone Ranger.

Craig in Hammond
The RSA’s @bgrhubarb has posted a collection of pictures she took during Craig’s recent stand up performance at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN.  We still have seen no photos and heard no stories from Atlantic City and would enjoy seeing them.  Let us know if you were there.  And if you’re planning to be in Toronto, Montreal or Boston, don’t be shy!  Share your experiences with the RSA by using our Contact form.

New Who Preview
The website dailyblam.com has two preview clips for the upcoming second half of the sixth series of Doctor Who.

This Week’s Guests

Karen Gillan

It’s another week of all-new episodes of the Late Late Show beginning Monday, when Craig welcomes back legendary comedian Don Rickles and fashion designer Tim Gunn (Tim Gunn).   Tuesday, actor William H. Macy and Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan are on the show.  Wednesday, Craig chats with actress Mary McCormack, and golf analyst David Feherty.   Actress/Producer Lisa Kudrow and Author Ben Mezrich are on show Thursday.  And on Friday, watch for the eleventh Doctor Who, actor Matt Smith and comedian Ted Alexandro.

Spelling Note
After spelling Geoff Peterson‘s name with an ‘E’ (PetersEn) on the credits since he first arrived in April of 2010, the show now lists him in the credits spelled with an ‘O’ (PetersOn).  Thanks to @bgrhubarb for screen-capturing the change.  In our efforts to stay accurate and consistent with the show, we have been using the ‘E’ spelling but will switch to the ‘O’ spelling as of today.  The ‘O’ spelling has been used on Geoff’s Wikipedia page, Twitter account and other locations for some time, so we’re happy to see they’ve settled on a consistent spelling.
