William Shatner‘s impromptu Craig Ferguson horseback ride on Monday’s show got noticed by New York Magazine, The Today Show and WetPaint.com.

Zombie Talk Show
AMC is considering a reality-style talk show playing off of its hit series Walking Dead.  According to the website io9.com, they have already filmed a pilot with the @Nerdist Chris Hardwick.  Perhaps they’re thinking, if CBS can have a show with robot skeleton sidekick, why can’t AMC have the walking dead on a talk show?

Give Him a Hand
Geoff Peterson thanked the Mythbusters Grant Imahara for helping to fix his hand:

The Storm Passes but Cleanup Remains
Now that Irene has left the building, plenty of cleanup remains.  From what we’ve been seeing on the tweety box, there are still a number of roboskellies still without power from the Carolinas to Maine.  Others have seen damage to their homes and workplaces, and flooding could continue to be problem in several states as swollen rivers carry rain waters away.  Patience and perseverance will be important as roads and bridges are repaired, trees and debris are cleaned up and thousands of workers from power companies work around the clock to restore service.  Authorities say it could be several days before power will reach all of the affected areas and repairs to homes and businesses will take longer.  Most are thankful they got through the storm.  On Monday, the RSA’s @NCcoastgirl asked Josh Robert Thompson about ideas for getting through the power outage:

@joshrthompson We lost electricity for 16 hrs. We played all sorts of games, but still got bored. Any suggestions to help past time?

Josh replied:

Naked twister. Depending on who you’re playing with, it could last for hours.

East Coast Storms
Our thoughts are with the many Craig Ferguson fans of the Robot Skeleton Army along the east coast as Hurricane Irene makes its way northward.  We hope everyone is well-provisioned and in a safe place to ride out the storm, whether at home, in one of the many available shelters or staying with friends, family or hotels further inland.  Power is out for more than a million people, starting first in the Carolinas and Virginia but moving north with the storm.  Tornado watches and warnings have been posted as the storm spins its way along.  Heavy rains and flooding are being reported in more communities.  The Weather Channel developed a chart to compare the size of Irene to previous large storms, which we’ve posted here.  We’ve been talking on Twitter with many east coast roboskellies, who have battened down the hatches are are hanging on.  Even the RSA’s General @Malinky2Stoatir pulled up stakes to move to safer ground, tweeting:

I’m okay…out of the city. #Irene

Public transportation including subways, trains, buses and airports have been closed or will be soon closed in many major cities along the coast, as authorities urge people to stay inside and keep the streets clear for emergency vehicles.  Be sure to keep an eye on local and national newscasts, television and radio weather reports as well as the internet for the very latest on the progress of the storm.  We hope everyone stays safe!

Craig Enjoys Neil
Craig liked Neil Gaiman‘s books enough to buy the movie rights to a series of mystery novels he wrote.   On Thursday night, he tweeted:

If you need something to celebrate this weekend besides the gifts of friends, family and surviving the storm, Saturday August 27th is the birthday of Mother Teresa, President Lyndon Johnson and “The Duchess” Who Wasn’t Day… and yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Sunday, August 28th the birthday of author Leo Tolstoy, Dream Day Quest and Jubilee , National  Bow Tie Day and World Sauntering Day, so don’t walk… don’t run… just saunter your way through the day.

Josh and Geoff At Work
Huntington, West Virginia’s Herald-Dispatch newspaper has an in-depth article with Josh Robert Thompson about his work as the voice of Geoff Peterson.  They also posted a blog with what appears to be a transcript of the entire interview.  Meanwhile, New York Magazine enjoyed Craig’s comments Thursday night about the pending hurricane, as compared to Scotland’s weather.  The Washington Post and Politico.com focused on Kal Penn‘s plans to help President Obama’s re-election campaign.

Changes at The Talk
The CBS daytime show The Talk, on which Craig has appeared twice, will be seeing changes.  Co-host Leah Remini tweeted Friday:

It is official: I am sorry to say that I have NOT been asked back on the show. Sorry to my fans. U worked so hard! I adore u guys.

Also not returning, according to Entertainment Weekly, will be Holly Robinson Peete.  EW says Kris Jenner may be tapped as an occasional host when Sharon Osbourne is unavailable.  And today CBS said:

LLS Alum in Contention to Run Sheen’s New Show
Former Late Late Show writer Tom Straw is reportedly one of three people who could be tapped to run Charlie Sheen‘s new sitcom, Anger Management. As The Hollywood Reporter explains, Straw’s credits include the Cosby Show, Night Court and more. Industry observers say it’s not certain where episodes of the new show will be shown… if not on a network, perhaps on cable, a local broadcast station group or directly to a streaming service like Netflix.

Brave Plot Emerges

Hugh Laurie on iTunes Soon
Hugh Laurie‘s album Let Them Talk was released in in the UK on May 9th and has been available on iTunes in the UK for a while but the RSA’s @LoveAllThingsUK reminds us that it will be available on CD and on iTunes in the US starting September 6th.  You can pre-order it on iTunes or Amazon.com now.

A Premonition of Geoff?
In a 1998 episode of Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon as the “ghost of hosts future” predicted he would host the show in 2011.  Impressive, no doubt.  But as the RSA’s Ted N. noticed, there was also the “Don Pardo 9000″, a robot announcer that seems rather familiar.  The robot appears at about 4:12 in the clip.  Our apologies in advance for the embedded commercial.

Media Cover White Powder Incident
A flurry of media coverage followed Tuesday’s Late Late Show, in which Craig Ferguson talked about a threatening package sent from France to the Late Late Show studios.  As we reported in our previous post, the powder was determined by authorities not to be anthrax or other contagion but corn starch (incorrectly called cornmeal in some stories).  However, investigators are taking the sender’s written threats very seriously.

There’s not much new beyond what we reported in our previous post, which was updated overnight.   If you’re interested in how some of the big media outlets covered the story, some of the better examples are:  UPI, Reuters, Entertainment Weekly, EW’s Popwatch blog, TheCelebrityCafe.com, TMZ.com, Slate.com, The New York Times, The New York Daily News. The Washington Post, USAToday, The Chicago Tribune, The Hollywood Reporter, The Orange County Register, The LA Times Entertainment Section,  The LA Local News Section and E! Online.  The last two pieces speculate about whether threats made to David Letterman last week might be related.  The FBI says while it is investigating, there have no evidence to suggest a link at this time.

After Craig joked about the powder incident on Tuesday’s show, he has continued to keep things light-hearted, including his tweet Wednesday:

Josh Robert Thompson is of course the voice of Geoff Peterson.  His girlfriend, TV and radio host Kerri Kasem decided to poke a little fun at Josh’s alter-ego via Twitter on Wednesday:

I love that @Geofftherobot‘s my boyfriend, even though he’s dead, gay & can’t move more than 12ft from an outlet – He makes me laugh!

Kimmel’s Uncle Frank Passes Away
The Washington Post reports that Jimmy Kimmel‘s uncle Frank Potenza, who appeared on the show as a uniformed security guard and cast member, has died at the age of 77.
