Swedish Press
Craig Ferguson‘s recent conversation with actress Malin Ã…ckerman made headlines in a Swedish newspaper, as @alexndrs discovered. The quote, which refers to Swedish television personalities Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson (who once made a brief appearance on the Late Late Show) translates roughly as:

“They’ve traveled a lot back and forth to LA. They are really funny and good at fitting furniture.” Malin Ã…kerman reveals during her visit with Craig Ferguson that Filip and Fredrik, who just commented on the live broadcast of the Oscars for Swedish viewers, are her favorite show hosts in Sweden.

Thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb for spotting the tweet.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting to see ticket information pop up online for the Casino Del Sol show in Tucson, AZ on April 19th.  The casino tells us that they hope to have something posted by early March.  You can always find the most current details on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Merida At Disney

Our friends at StitchKingdom.com are reporting that Disney is auditioning for actresses to portray the new Disney/Pixar character of Merida from the film Brave at Disney World in Florida.  The ad specifies that they’re looking for someone playful and between 5’4″ and 5’6″ but there’s no word on whether a Scottish accent is required.

Fun With Fred
Craig tweeted to Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay on Monday:

@fredmacaulay Hey Fred. Can you DM me? I have a proposition for you. #notcode. #wellmaybe

Fred quickly responded:

@CraigyFergDone. Get back to me with the proposition…We could have talked last week I was in LA! //  PS You know Trondheim is in Norway……#notcodeeither

If you’ve not had the pleasure of seeing Fred perform, here’s a sample.  He was a guest on the popular British comedy panel show Mock the Week and was asked by host Dara Ó Briain to improvise on the topic of etiquette. He chose a story from a soccer match featuring the Partick Thistle Football Club, of which Craig is a fan, that sums up Scottish etiquette surrounding the use of the F-word:

Ferg Nation
You’ve all seen those white oval stickers on cars.  They have black letters on a white background and utilize anywhere from just one to a few letters, and were originally designed to indicate the country of registration for cars in Europe.  For example, cars with the letter “D” were from Deutschland (Germany) and “F” were from France, etc.   They first started showing up in the United States simply as a national sticker (USA), then to indicate states (NY or GA) and cities (DEN for Denver or PHX for Phoenix).  Eventually the idea was commercialized to indicate everything from specific tourist areas (“OBX” for North Carolina’s Outer Banks was among the early examples), sports teams and specific products or ideas.

The RSA’s @HMSFox spotted and photographed what may be our new favorite, from the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri.  These things could catch on!

Learning French on Twitter
The cold medication must be really kicking in for Craig Ferguson, who took to Twitter on Wednesday to delve into the intricacies of the French language:

[stextbox id=”custom”]

It started when Craig noticed a tweet from French talk show host Jacques “Arthur” Essbag, who tweeted: Denzel Washington est un grand acteur.

Craig responded by saying: Et Danny DeVito est un petit acteur. #learnfrenchontwitter

Arthur noticed and said:  Craig Ferguson est un très Grand animateur.

And Craig replied:  Et Arthur est un petit chou.(cabbage or pastry) #learnfrenchontwitter

Craig then noticed a tweet from a fan who asked: who is chuck norris?

So keeping up the French theme, Craig said: Chuck Norris est un tres grand mal derrière #learnfrenchontwitter

Another fan jumped in and asked: did you just essentially say chuck morons is a huge bad ass in French? Win.  And Craig said, Oui.

But Arthur was confused and interjected:  “Un tres grand mal derrière” ? Mean nothing in french…

So Craig countered:  Chuck Norris dude. Figure it out. #learnenglishontwitter

Arthur suggested:  In french “Mal derrière” mean: “Pain in the ass”…

Then a fan came to the rescue with some help from Google:  “Chuck Norris is a very great evil behind” according to google translate. Makes perfect sense to me!  And Craig said, Voila!

Craig summarized:  Look. I’ll say it in English so we’re all clear – Chuck Norris is a huge evil behind who can kick your sick ass so hard it’s bad. #coldmeds

And Arthur added:  #frenchlesson.Craig est l’animateur le plus drôle il est très joli dans son costume jaune canari et ses cheveux en petard!

Which, as far as we can tell means:  “Craig is the funniest host is very nice in his canary yellow suit and firecracker hair.”  So true.

[/stextbox]
Earlier in the day, Craig made a discovery and tweeted:

Just discovered my pal Lenny is THE Leonardo of Leonardo & Roberto’s @gourmetblends. Best Balsamic I ever had in my mouth. #notcode #okmaybe
