Radio Bound
As we reported when the news broke last week, Craig Ferguson will be hosting a new radio show on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats (Channel 94), beginning February 27. The two-hour show will air weeknights from 6-8pm ET / 3-5pm PT. It will be just the second regular, daily show on the channel. Actor/comedian Jay Thomas has a two-hour show that airs just before Craig’s time slot. Programming on the channel the rest of the time is audio of stand up comedians on stage.

We’ve learned a bit more since Thursday’s announcement, including that Craig plans to take the show on the road in New York in March. We are awaiting details on where he’ll be doing the show and will pass those along as we hear more. Craig and Sirius signed an initial two-year deal and will evaluate the show’s progress as it goes. Additional media coverage in the past week came from The Interrobang, The Laugh Button, The A.V. Club, The Comeback and The Comedy Bureau. The original article in the trade publication Variety also noted that Craig is making progress on his second novel, The Sphinx of the Mississippi, and we’ll be keeping an eye on that project as well.

A Sirius Discount
Several robot skeletons have let us know about a discount you can get if you’re starting a SiriusXM subscription for the first time. The website Ebates.com is offering a deal on a streaming-only subscription for $30. That comes to $36.52 with taxes and fees, points out the RSA’s @whyterose713. After that, the price returns to its normal $15.99/month ($19.46/month with taxes and fees). Other discounts are available if you are buying a SiriusXM radio for your home or car and want to try one of the other subscription packages.

The show will also be available on the SiriusXM mobile app for subscribers, and they’ll keep two weeks of the show at a time available in the feed, so if you want to listen to Craig on your way to work, or perhaps late at night if you’re feeling nostalgic, you’ll have that option.

Capaldi To End ‘Doctor Who’ Run
Craig’s show business pal Peter Capaldi has announced this series of Doctor Who will be his last, with new episodes coming this spring, along with a final Christmas special. He told the BBC he has enjoyed the role but wants to seek new challenges. Capaldi is one of many actors to play the Doctor in the show’s 50-year history, and it is expected to continue with a new cast in the future.
