Gateway City
Craig Ferguson‘s Live Comedy Tour took our fearless leader back to Nashville for a show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center Monday night.  He moves on to St. Louis on Tuesday for a return engagement at the Pageant.   Along the way, Craig has been tweeting some of his experiences.  After making the trip from Birmingham to Nashville on Sunday evening, Craig had to wait out a tornado warning:

2am in Nashville and the tornado warning sirens are still blaring. V glad to be indoors. It’s gnarly out there. #imawussycaliforniannow // And the storm seems to have passed. No twisters with flying cows etc. Thank goodness. Goodnight.

We hope all of Craig’s robot skeleton faithful made it through the storms safely.  Craig also tweeted about his post-show plan for Monday night:

Show in Nashville tonight then dinner with my buddy @TraceAdkins. Good times. #theremaybemeat. #notcode

He even threw in a Kardasahian observation for good meansure:

I just read a tweet where Khloe Kardashian quoted George Bernard Shaw. Looking forward to a Joycean rebuttal from Snooki. #whatthefuck?

He also retweeted a link to the BBC with pictures of the northern lights over Scotland.  If you’ve never had the chance, we cannot recommend more strongly that you include seeing them on your bucket list.  The result of solar winds interacting with Earth’s atmosphere, the northern lights or Aurora Borealis and their southern counterpart, the Aurora Australis, are one of the most stunning sights in nature.

Less stunning but apparently still a rare sight, are truly nice men’s rooms, as Craig tweeted:

http://twitpic.com/8avk45 Men’s room or set of Lenny Kravitz video?

Opening Acts

Craig’s opening act in Biloxi and Birmingham was Los Angeles comedian Rory Scovel.

For the rest of this week’s tour, New York City-based comedian Ted Alexandro will open for Craig.  Ted has appeared on the Late Late Show and has opened for Craig in the past.

And as always, we are looking for your stories and photos.  If you are in the audience for any of Craig’s shows this week, we would be delighted to pass along your story to the rest of the Robot Skeleton Army.  Just use our Contact Us form to send us your story or a link to wherever you have posted it.

Music City USA
Craig Ferguson takes his Live Comedy Tour back to Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, returning to the Polk Theater where he recorded his most recent comedy special, Does This Need To Be Said?  After his Saturday night show in Biloxi, Craig tweeted on Sunday morning:

Getting on tour bus to roll from Biloxi Mississippi – Birmingham Alabama. Surely a Cracker Barrel breakfast cannot be far away. Good times.

Later he added:

Heading to gig in Alabama. Things looking a bit tornado-y. Damn. I wanted to wear my new hat.

We hope everyone in the area stays safe.

This Week’s Guests

Jean Reno

All this week on the Late Late Show, we get to revisit Craig’s whirlwind tour of Paris.  Monday, Craig tours the Eiffel Tower and begins a series of chats with bookstore owner Sylvia Beach Whitman and TV Host/Comedian Jacques “Arthur” Essebag (from August 1, 2011).  Tuesday’s show features Kristen Bell, Eddie Izzard and one of many conversations with actor Jean Reno (from August 2, 2011).  On Wednesday, Craig visits the Louvre, goes boating with Jean-Michel Cousteau and meets cheesemaker Marie-Anne Cantin (from August 3, 2011).  Craig tours the Palace of Versailles on Thursday and talks about France’s rulers with TV presenter/French royalty expert Stéphane Berne (from August 4, 2011).  And on Friday Craig chats with shoe designer Christian Louboutain and performs at the Moulin Rouge (from August 5, 2011).

Paint Me A Birmingham
Craig Ferguson heads to Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday for a pair of shows at the Stardome Comedy Club, as he continues this week’s leg of his Live Comedy Tour.  Upon arriving in Biloxi, Mississippi on Saturday, Craig tweeted:

Woke up in Biloxi MS with a hangover. Odd. I stopped drinking nearly 20 years ago. Maybe latenight truckstop Moon Pie is the culprit. #code

Let’s hope he washed it down with an RC Cola, the drink famously paired with Moon Pies across the South. Later, he added:

http://twitpic.com/8a1asf If you ever need alone time I suggest the gym in a large casino. #latenighttruckstopmoonpieguilt

After working out, he tweeted a single letter, followed by an explanation:

X // Oh. I seem to have accidentally tweeted the letter X. Please accept it as a kiss. You too ladies.

And just before Saturday’s show, Craig retweeted an audience member’s observation and quipped:

“@Danimal76: Someone is walking around with a bunny puppet at the @CraigyFerg show.” Good grief! Not another one. They’re breeding like..oh

Scottish Silliness
The Scottish press is at it again, this time in the Scottish Sun newspaper. They use a very deceptive headline, not based on any facts or quotes, designed to catch attention that is not substantiated in the article.  The rest of the article is mostly decent, expect for a few incorrect or incomplete facts, about Craig’s sister Lynn Ferguson.  Upon reading the article, Lynn tweeted:

Gags. What gags? @craigyferg Since when did you start using gags? http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/scotlandfeatures/4075918/Lynn-Ferguson-Its-no-surprise-my-brother-Craig-cracked-America-I-wrote-most-of-his-gags.html

There was another, much better article on Scotsman.com previewing the television special Lynn is narrating about the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  Thanks to the RSA’s @NancyInTampa and @CozyHobo for the link.

Lord Byron

Holidays and Birthdays
Saturday, January 21st is National Hugging Day, as well as the birthday of George Orwell, Benny Hill, Jack Nicklaus and Placido Domingo.  Sunday, January 22nd is Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day, and is the birthday of August Strindberg, Ann Sothern and Lord Byron. Here is perhaps Lord Byron’s most famous work:

[stextbox id=”custom”]

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow’d to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all
A heart whose love is innocent!

Downton Abbey Spoiler: True or Not True?

After Craig Ferguson‘s tweets Tuesday that he would be uttering a “major” spoiler of the BBC-made/PBS distributed show Downton Abbey, fans wondered what he would say on the show about it.  But after it aired, PBS responded by congratulating Craig on his “fake” spoiler.  So the question must be asked:  Was it an actual spoiler?  True or Not True?  Entertainment Weekly posted a story Wednesday with the response from PBS.  Thanks to the RSA’s @MissGraoully for the link.

It’s true, the latest CBS Cares project is indeed a Colonoscopy Sweepstakes, promoted by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.  The winner receives (we’re not making this up) a free trip to New York City, a stay in a fancy hotel and a free colonoscopy.  The campaign’s commercials are admittedly a bit giggle-inducing but they draw attention to important health issues.  Thanks to the RSA’s @LoveAllThingsUK for the link.
