Fun with Germophobes
Craig Ferguson tweeted Monday that he’s looking to have a little fun with guest Howie Mandel, who openly and self-deprecatingly jokes about his well-known aversion to handshakes and other contact:
[stextbox id=”custom”]Adorable shaved Canadian @howiemmandel on the show tonight. I shall taunt him with pretend sneeziness. #notreally. #thatsnotcool. #maybe

For his part, Howie tweeted:
@howiemmandel: Watch me on @CraigyFerg tonight. I broke every rule. Am I in trouble ?

And Craig responded: What rules?

Howie replied: 16 thru k

Tweety Time
Craig Ferguson enjoys stalking Twitter from time to time and replied to a fan on Saturday:

“@Freundlydude: My goal this year is to have @BenFolds @IamStevenT or @CraigyFerg to RT one of my tweets #goals” Jeez. Aim higher.

He also offered up a round of “True or Not True”:

The sun baby from teletubbies grew up to be the ginger dude on Homeland. #TrueOrNotTrue //
Not true. The sun baby from teletubbies was actually @IMKristenBell #TrueOrNotTrue

Shorty Awards
The annual Shorty Awards are up and running.  In the contest, which honors the best in social media, people and companies can be nominated in any of dozens of existing categories or make up their own.  Craig could be nominated in many different ways but perhaps the most good would come from nominating him in a single category and focusing effort on that.  It appears he has been nominated for the #comedian category, which makes sense.  As of this writing, Craig is currently tied for 30th place in that category but it’s very early, and a big robot skeleton effort could propel him to the top and make him a finalist.  The nomination period runs through February 17th.  Be sure to read the rules closely (there must be a proper hashtag and a reason for your nomination and don’t start up a bunch of accounts to vote; they’ll catch on), so that your nominating tweet gets counted!  And remember, you can only vote once (repeat votes are discarded) so the goal is to get as many people as possible to nominate Craig.

Who Review

The website Anglotopia, net has a big new post talking about upcoming Doctor Who conventions and notes that Craig is a fan of the long-running series.

Skeleton Antics
In Seattle, a commuter is in trouble not only for speeding but for using a mock skeleton to look like a passenger, in order to use the carpool lane. The story from Seattle’s KING-TV ends with a note that the skeleton will remain in the closet. [Make up your own Geoff Peterson joke here.] Thanks to the RSA’s @doxieone1 for the heads up on this story.

The Late Late Show in Scotland?
As we first reported early Friday morning, the UK’s Daily Record newspaper reports that Craig Ferguson is in talks to bring the Late Late Show to Scotland for a week, taping episodes much like he did in Paris last summer.  In addition, the paper suggests he might book a stand up comedy appearance or two while in the country, including a possible appearance at Edinburgh’s famed Festival Fringe later in the year.  The unnamed “insider” source said Craig could tape episodes as early as March but the Festival is held in August, so the details don’t appear to be worked out.  Craig first came to wider public attention as a stand up comedian at the festival in the 1980’s and his sister Lynn has performed there as well.

Obviously, this is preliminary information and based largely on the paper’s unnamed source but it would be exciting to see Craig take the show to his homeland. We’ll keep you posted if and when further details are announced.  If any of our Euroskelly friends in the greater Scotland area get wind of any developments, please let us know!

High Praise, Indeed
Speaking at the winter TV press tour in Los Angeles this week, actor and The Price Is Right host Drew Carey compared his friend Craig Ferguson to the late great Johnny Carson.  That remark got picked up by the Washington Post, the Salt Lake Tribune and other media outlets.  We couldn’t imagine a better compliment to a talk show host and we couldn’t agree more. Thanks to the RSA’s @Miss Graoully, Bruce and many others for the links.

Gopher It

Soon to be a Guest
After Craig’s Twitter appeal to British actor Leslie Phillips, it didn’t take long to get a response in the affirmative.  Phillips tweeted back (thanks to the RSA’s @HMSFox for spotting it):

“@CraigyFerg: Do come to LA & be on my show…Darling Craig. I spoke to my pal Tony Hopkins and am coming over soon & would love to X

Grant In Town
The man who built Geoff Peterson, the Mythbusters own Grant Imahara is in Los Angeles, spending a little time with his creation:

Flying to LA to do routine maintenance on @GeoffTheRobot. Turn your head and cough, Geoff.

He later added:

Just lubricated @GeoffTheRobot‘s ball joints. They were showing excessive wear. #notmakingthisup

[stextbox id=”custom” bgcolor=E6E6FA]UPDATE: Craig Ferguson may be bringing the Late Late Show to Scotland. Quoting an “insider”, the UK’s Daily Record newspaper reports that Craig has been in discussions to travel to Scotland in March and record a week’s worth of shows, similar to the show’s excursion to Paris last summer. In addition, the paper suggests he might book a stand up comedy appearance or two while in the country.

Obviously, this is preliminary information and based on an unnamed source but it would be exciting to see Craig take the show to his homeland. We’ll keep you posted if and when further details are announced.[/stextbox]

Fun with Anagrams
We’ve played the anagram game here on the website and today, Craig Ferguson was playing it on Twitter with Kristen Bell:

The RSA’s @mcbee11 came up with a good one and Craig re-tweeted it:

@CraigyFerg Rearrange Geoff Peterson and you get “Free Gent Poofs.”

Craig also made an appeal to legendary British actor Leslie Phillips:

Dearest @LesliePhillips_ Do come to LA & be on my show. I haven’t seen you in forever & we could really use some class in the joint.
