Two Years on the Tweety
February 8th marks the second anniversary of the day Craig Ferguson joined Twitter as @CraigyFerg and began to assemble his Robot Skeleton Army. In that two years, Craig has gained more than a million followers, to whom he tweets regularly and hilariously. That puts him in the top 600 Twitter users in the world. Among the many celebrity tweeters out there, Craig is one of best because he has found a way to make a thoughtful, personal connection with fans. Within 140 characters, he can make us laugh and gives fans a way to thank him for all of the great work he does. Happy Twitter-versary, Craig!

Stories From The Tour
If you follow the RSA’s @bgrhubarb, tweeter of all things Craig-related, you know that she had a chance to follow Craig to two of his tour stops in January, visiting Nashville and Des Moines. She wrote a wonderfully detailed article about her experiences, complete with lots of links and fantastic photos. Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and enjoy. Our thanks to @bgrhubarb for sending us the link. And remember, if you (yes you, loyal Craig fan) have a Craig-related story to tell that the rest of the Robot Skeleton Army would enjoy, please let us know. We’re always happy to share!

Kansas Appreciation
The review of Craig’s January performance in Wichita, Kansas was short and sweet in the Wichita Eagle newspaper.

Can’t Stop Wendy
You may remember a guest Craig brought on the show last year, named Wendy Booker. The author and adventurer has multiple sclerosis and has made it her mission to show that people with MS can do amazing things. When she last spoke with Craig, she had completed a trip to the North Pole, bringing Craig’s Australian souvenir kangaroo “equipment” along for the ride. Booker has recently completed a trip to the South Pole as well, and will be crossing Greenland later this spring. And on her blog, she just announced that she is training to run the 1,000-mile Iditarod Sled Dog Marathon in Alaska in 2014. Go Wendy!

You can see the most complete listings on our Guests page.

Twitter Fun
After taking a few days away from tweeting (an excellent thing for anyone to try from time to time), Craig Ferguson jumped back on the Tweety in earnest, first with couple of Madonna jokes before and during Sunday’s Super Bowl, and then on Monday morning:

My ultra nerdy friends don’t seem to be on the tweety so much anymore. Damn! There must be a new thing and I don’t know about it yet.#loser

He had fun with the RSA’s @squirrel_handed:

“@squirrel_handed: I pretend the baby I nanny is @CraigyFerg interviewing me. It’s good practice for when I’m famous.” …the hell?

Then he teased the RSA’s @VictoriaMIbanez who saw Craig perform live in January:

“@VictoriaMIbanez: @CraigyFerg I’m right here, Craig! You always ignore me. :(” Quiet please.

Soon, domestic responsibilities called him away for a while:

Breakfast > tweetiness. I am summoned to toasty duty. Thanks for the nerd love. Later taters. #latertaters

And later, as many Twitter users do, Craig noticed that he had reached a tweeting milestone and dedicated his next tweet.  He gave a belated “801” shout out to a pair of 70’s glam rock musicians from the band Roxy Music and even threw in a hashtag reference to the movie This is Spinal Tap:

I meant to dedicate my 801st tweet to Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera but I forgot. So here is 901. That’s 100 better. #thesegouptoeleven

He also had fun with a member of the studio audience on Monday:

“@DanSpiegel: At #CBS Studios for the @CraigyFerg taping. Should be fun.” Not necessarily.

Sharing is Good
The RSA’s @cozyhobo spotted a post where two friends have decided to share Craig.

Back to Work
After a nice weekend at home, Craig Ferguson is gearing up for another week of all-new episodes of the Late Late Show this week including the hunky Mark Harmon, the also hunky Kenneth Branagh and one of the true kings of geeky hunkiness, “Weird Al” Yankovic.  And speaking of hunkiness, we’re told that there was some sort of sporting event going on over the weekend.  Judging by the Twitter traffic, it must have somehow involved David Beckham and underwear.  We hope everyone had a chance to enjoy that.  You too, ladies.

Craig was watching the big game, or at least the halftime show:

I have to admit the halftime show was pretty good. That cheeky cockney has still got all the moves. #butslower

Earlier in the day, upcoming guest Thomas Lennon tweeted:

Can we all agree on ONE snarky comment that we’re going to make when we see Madonna’s arms today? #armsuggestions

And Craig responded:

@thomaslennon How about “wow, that English dude has sick pythons” #armsuggestions

Research
Craig’s sister Lynn Ferguson tweeted Sunday about a friend’s book:

My pal has written a sexy book http://www.amazon.com/Tennis-Dates-Colette-Freedman/dp/1432726706 . Am gonna read it – for research 🙂

Mark Harmon and NCIS

The Toronto Star interviews Mark Harmon on the eve of the 200th episode of NCIS.

Halftime With Al
The New York Daily News says it’s about time that “Weird Al” Yankovic gets the chance to be the halftime act at the Super Bowl.  We agree.

Branagh on the Carpet

The New York Times interviewed Kenneth Branagh at last week’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Ad Bowl
There are silly ads, sappy ads and downright bizarre ads during the big game each year but we tend to be partial to the classy ads. Runners up for best ad included the Best Buy ad with the inventors of various smartphone technologies and a very sexy teleflora ad with Adriana Lima. But these are our favorite three: The classic Budweiser ad with cinematic pictures, great music and of course, the horses:

Next, Toyota’s reminder that they’ve been around for a while:

And our favorite of the year, Budweiser’s great idea to give the guys who just play for a fun a chance to feel like they’re in the big time:

'Weird Al' Yankovic

Quiet Day
It’s been a quiet day in the Hollowed-Out Volcano.  Craig Ferguson is enjoying a weekend at home after being on the road, Twitter traffic has been slow and most robot skeletons seem to be settled in, awaiting orders from our fearless leader.  We’ve been keeping an eye out for future Live Comedy Tour appearances, future Guests on the Late Late Show and any news on contract talks between CBS and David Letterman as well as Craig.  We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything new.

Memories of Craig’s Visit to Paris
After getting to enjoy a second look at Craig’s week of shows in Paris, we were reminded that some of our Euroskelly faithful captured some great pictures while Craig was taping on location. Thanks to the work of the RSA’s @003lili, @MissGraoully, @SpongyPotato, @Spongybob2, @simonhuet, @ericphilippona, @RudyHellio and more, we had a chance to see what it was like to be around Craig & Company while they put together the week’s shows. Here is a look back and some of the best pictures from the Late Late Show’s time in the City of Lights:

Questions for Josh
The voice of Geoff Peterson, Josh Robert Thompson periodically answers viewer questions on Twitter. On Friday, he was asked if any upgrades were in the works for Geoff. He responded:

Stay tuned… 😉 RT @stephbg Are there any upgrades for Geoff in the works?

I Can Haz Doctor Who?

There are a surprising number of pictures on the always funny lolcats website involving cats and Doctor Who.  These are some of our favorites:

Early February Holidays and Birthdays
Saturday, February 4 is the birthday of actress Ida Lupino, flyer Charles Lindbergh and civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks.  It is also the anniversary of the founding of the USO, one of Craig’s favorite charities.  Sunday, February 5 is National Weatherpersons Day, as well as the birthday of slugger Hank Aaron, actor Tim Meadows and comedian Red Buttons.  Here’s a short clip of Red in action, appearing at a comedy hall of fame ceremony and doing a variation of one of his classic bits, the people who didn’t get inducted into the hall.

Downton Abbey Plus Texts Equals Giggles

There is a page on the internet for everything and here is further proof:  Someone set up a tumblr page that combines pictures from the ITV show Downton Abbey with selected texts from the famed TextsFromLastNight.com website.  The result is a funny imagining of what the show’s characters might say in more modern times.

Talking About Craig
We’ve heard when Beth Behrs appeared Friday as a guest on Rosie O’Donnell‘s new talk show on the Oprah Winfrey Network, that Beth and Rosie said nice things about Craig Ferguson. We haven’t seen a clip yet. Did any hobos happen to see it? We’ll post a clip if one surfaces.

Now That’s a Game
The RSA’s @HMSFox spotted a magnetic poetry set that might be a perfect fit for Craig and his fans.  We’re guessing that it would be better for your refrigerator at home than the filing cabinet in your office.

And Ames added:

i will be on the @craigyferg late late show tonight. i probably came across as odd and somewhat tormented, which is accurate, i imagine.

Kardashian Day?
Craig Ferguson is an observer of nature and marked Thursday’s peculiar American holiday with the Los Angeles version:

Here in Los Angeles a Kardashian saw it’s shadow. 6 more weeks of smog.

We’re not sure if Kardashians hibernate. They do seem to pop up more than once a year.

Capaldi Profiled

Craig’s former bandmate Peter Capaldi is profiled in Britain’s Independent newspaper.

Sophia’s Style
A hair stylist who did Sophia Bush‘s hair for her most recent appearance on the Late Late Show mentions Craig in an interview with bangstyle.com.

The Nerdist Thanks Craig

The RSA’s @LoveAllThingsUK noticed that Craig is among the people that the @Nerdist Chris Hardwick thanks in the acknowledgments in his new book.

Adelaide’s Craig Ferguson
After a request in the comments about the story in our last post, we found a picture of the Craig Ferguson who lives near Adelaide in Australia. He is one of a group of farmers from rural Australia who are banding together to recruit women from the city to visit their area in the hopes of finding potential brides. He is the fellow on the far right in the red shirt.

Siri and Scots
Although Apple has touted its digital assistant app “Siri” on the iPhone4s, it quickly became apparent that the software does have difficulty understanding some accents. Once Scot decided to create a humorous demonstration for YouTube and the result is pretty funny.

NOTE: This clip contains VERY VERY STRONG LANGUAGE and no flags or “tutsi-fruitsis.”
Viewer discretion is advised.  We are not kidding.

The Scottish-born comedian, actor, director, writer and producer first visited the United States as a teen and strongly identified with American aspirations and attitudes. Congratulations, Craig!
