Book Early
Tickets are selling very quickly for Craig Ferguson‘s remaining live stand up comedy performances for 2012. There are no individual tickets remaining at Craig’s fundraising show for the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation in Denver on November 10th, however a few tables remain for corporate donors. There are no main floor tickets left for Craig’s show at the Chicago Theatre on November 15th but some balcony seating is still available. We expect that show to be sold out soon. And for Craig’s pair of shows at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC on November 16th, most of the main floor seats are already gone for the early show, but some are still left for the late show. Book early to avoid disappointment! For dates, times, locations and links to tickets, visit our Live Comedy Tour page.

Horse of Another Color

Our thanks to the RSA’s Cheesebutt who discovered the original source of the Craig Ferguson and Secretariat version of Jacques-Louis David‘s painting. It first appeared on Starkky’s tumblr page.

Fun with Fruit
After Monday night’s fruit festival with Jeff Goldblum and Sarah Paulson, the RSA’s @hoborobot sent us a photo with a kiss.

Studio 58 Gets New Tenant
Craig Ferguson and the Late Late Show moved to the new and improved Studio 56 at CBS Television City back in August, vacating the smaller Studio 58 just across the hall. And now, Studio 58 has a new tenant: Talking Dead, the live after-show for AMC’s The Walking Dead, hosted by the @Nerdist Chris Hardwick, who tweeted:

Our Talking Dead studio this season is @CraigyFerg‘s old stage! It’s getting your cooler older brother’s leather jacket #CraigIsFonzie http://instagr.am/p/QyNWWmJGic/

This season’s show debuted Sunday night and will continue following each episode of The Walking Dead.

Ithaca Review
A writer for the student newspaper The Cornell Daily Sun in Ithaca offers a review of Craig’s show at the State Theatre last Thursday. The mostly positive review contains massive spoilers, so we’ve hidden it inside the gray bar below. If you haven’t seen the show and want to be surprised in Denver, Chicago, Washington, DC or when the new stand up comedy special comes out in the spring, skip to the next story. Otherwise, click on the arrow below to link to the full story:

Scottish Independence Vote
You may remember back in the spring when Craig took the Late Late Show to Scotland, he interviewed the country’s First Minister Alex Salmond about several issues, including the prospect of Scottish independence from the United Kingdom. As the BBC reports, an agreement has been reached to allow a referendum vote by the Scottish people in the fall of 2014. British Prime Minister David Cameron said that while it will be his top priority to convince Scotland to remain part of the UK, he believes voters should have the opportunity to decide.

Behind the Scenes
When Craig recorded the video for the new and updated version of the Late Late Show opening theme at LA’s Farmer’s Market back in 2009, a crew tagged along to give us a glimpse of how it was made.

Tonight’s Guests

Monday on the Late Late Show, Craig chats with actor Jeff Goldblum and actress Sarah Paulson. On Tuesday, Craig’s guests are actress Lauren Graham, author James Patterson and musician Michael Kiwanuka.

Back in Los Angeles

Craig Ferguson
and Josh Robert Thompson are back in Los Angeles, resting from last week’s stand up tour and getting ready for a new string of all-new episodes of the Late Late Show. New shows are planned from now up to the Thanksgiving holiday, when historically, the network has aired rebroadcasts of previous shows due to the expected smaller audience. Then, more new shows are expected leading into the December holiday break.

New York State of Mind
The RSA’s @MissGraoully, one of many Euroskellies who are regular readers and contributors to the website, had the chance to see Craig at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last weekend.

[stextbox id=”custom”]What was an impulsive purchase of a ticket for a show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City ended up in my first step on US soil, for a week of vacation full of Craig Ferguson events and RSA meetings. My English vocabulary is still limited, so here how I can simply describe the last week: AWESOME!!!

Aside from visiting this incredibly beautiful city, I had my copy of American on Purpose dedicated by the author himself outside of David Letterman’s show (for more details, see @003lili’s video), a picture with His Chatiness after his appearance at the Paley Center and an incredible amount of laughter for a couple of days (thanks to Josh too).

I’m also grateful that I’ve been able to exchange some words with Rebecca and Michael who, amazingly, seemed to remember me from Paris, but I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not LOL (it’s a joke!). Good memories.

But the most emotional thing for me was finally being able to meet some of the people with whom I have shared my mornings for more than a year, watching the Late Late Show “live” in my European time zone and tweeting naughty comments (the best way to start a day).

I want to thank everybody (you know who you are) for making me feel part of a big family so far away from home. So much charming and adorable people gathered around a same interest. That’s the #CraigyFergEffect. It was a real pleasure to met you all and I hope it will happen again soon in some new RSA adventures![/stextbox]

Rochester Colors
Following Craig’s two shows at the University of Rochester on Friday night, the school posted a photo of Craig on stage wearing the school colors.

Hi-Yo Secretariat, Away!

You can always count on the Internet to come up with something that you never even knew you needed. The RSA’s @ScottishLover96 was looking around Instagram and found a great image of Craig and Secretariat, based on a famous painting. The original is called “Napoleon Crosses the Alps,” by Jacques-Louis David. Does anyone know who came up with the modified version? We’d like to give them credit. Let us know.

Super Bowl Special
In case you missed it last week amid all of the excitement of Craig’s stand up tour, CBS officially announced that Craig will be doing the Late Late Show from the Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 3rd, 2013. The last time Craig was at the Super Bowl was in 2007, and he did the show live after the game. We have not heard whether the new show will be live or pre-recorded but we’re keeping an eye out for details about when and where they’ll be needing an audience, and we’ll keep you posted. For now, enjoy Craig’s last Super Bowl show, with thanks to the RSA’s @keepintouch0:

This Week’s Guests

Nina Conti

All-new episodes of the Late Late Show return this week, beginning Monday, with actor Jeff Goldblum and actress Sarah Paulson. On Tuesday, Craig chats with actress Lauren Graham and author James Patterson, plus we’ll hear the music of Michael Kiwanuka. On Wednesday, Craig’s guest will be football analyst Kay Adams. Actor Kelsey Grammer, actress Casey Wilson and ventriloquist/comedienne Nina Conti are all scheduled to be in the studio on Thursday. And on Friday, Craig welcomes TV host Chelsea Handler and musician Allen Stone.

Blast From The Past
British comedian Danny Baker came across a photo featuring Craig and tweeted it to him on Saturday morning. The picture was taken in 1994, on the set of a short-lived BBC game show called Bygones.  Baker hosted. Rick Wakeman, an English musician best know as the keyboardist for the band Yes, was captain of one three-person team and Craig was captain of the other.

The game centered around nostalgia, hence the “Bygones” name. Over the course of four rounds, the teams would make guesses about old products, film clips, songs and celebrities.  The reason the head of 1940’s bandleader Ted Heath is in the photo is because in one round of the game, the teams were shown waxwork heads of celebrities from the past and earned points if they guessed their identity correctly. The game show ran for just a single series of five episodes in the spring of 1994.

Our thanks to to UKGameShows.com for details about the show, several skellies for retweeting Baker’s tweet and drawing it to our attention:

@CraigyFerg Found this Craig. Me in middle. You billed just under dismembered Ted Heath. *sigh* You had such promise… http://i.imgur.com/rP6JQ.jpg

Wearing the Colors
For Craig’s two shows at the University of Rochester’s alumni weekend event on Friday, Craig ditched the sport coat for the school colors. Thanks to the RSA’s @GibsonChick777 for capturing the front-row photo on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Craig was tweeting from the road on Saturday, not quite sure what to make of the quote on his coffee cup:

I’m not sure this is a great idea. pic.twitter.com/OUlTsZLY

A Few More for the Road
As the October leg of Craig Ferguson‘s Live Comedy Tour comes to a close in Connecticut, he’ll be heading back to Los Angeles for about a month of fresh, new episodes of the Late Late Show. Then, his attention turns to a few more stand up dates in November. On November 10th, Craig will perform at a special fundraising event benefiting the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation in Denver, where all of the single tickets are already sold out. He’ll then get a one-day warm-up at the Chicago Theater on November 15th before flying to Washington, DC for two shows November 16th at the Warner Theatre. Those two shows are scheduled to be taped to form Craig’s new stand up comedy special, which should be available in the spring, first on cable television and later on DVD. We’ll have more details as they are announced.

Sunday, October 14th is the birthday of actress Lillian Gish, poet E E Cummings, actor Roger Moore and actor Harry Anderson.  Before he became known as Judge Harold T. Media Catch Up
As we reported earlier this week, the host of NBC’s Tonight Show, Jay Leno, will appear on the Late Late Show with Craig in late October. Deadline.com, Entertainment Weekly and CarterMatt.com all picked up on the news on Friday. Just remember, you saw it here first!

Upstate Fun
Craig and company were on the road Friday, making their way to Rochester for Friday night’s shows, where the crowds were big and loud. Craig tweeted:

Driving through upstate NY on a beautiful autumnal day listening to Morrissey. I am a sensitive bastard. #everydayislikesunday

Comedy Next Week
Comedian Ben Hague says he will be on the Late Late Show next week on a day to be named later. As soon as he is confirmed for a taping, we’ll add him to the list. He tweeted:

Excitement in Ithaca
Just hours before Craig Ferguson‘s Thursday evening stand up comedy performance in Ithaca, New York, a portion of the city’s downtown area was temporarily closed off as police investigated a suspicious package near a bank building. The State Theater where Craig performed was outside of the area cordoned off during the investigation and was not affected. Local media outlets, including radio station WHCU 870 AM and the Ithaca Times, reported that a package, possibly with the word “bomb” written on it, was found near the Bank of America branch in the downtown commons. An area bomb squad was called in to assist and the package was found to be “non-threatening” and was seized for evidence.  Again, the theater where Craig performed was near but outside the area affected by the investigation and authorities say people there were not in danger at any time.

Craig and company made the trip up from Greenburg, Pennsylvania Wednesday night where the RSA’s @kierack tweeted:

Saw Craig live for the first time.doing stand-up he has much more freedom than his show. haven’t laughed that much in a long time!

And they were in Hershey, Pennsylvania the night before, where the RSA’s @KristinaSchelle got a great photo of Craig on stage. Craig’s fall Live Comedy Tour continues in Rochester, New York on Friday night, where tickets still remain available for the general public for both shows at the University of Rochester at 7:30pm and 10pm. Tickets will be on sale from 8am until the start of the final show at 10pm, in person at the student union, by phone or at the door. However, the University strongly suggests buying those tickets in advance because there are no guarantees that any tickets will remain at the door close to show time.

Round of Golf
Craig’s assistant spent a decidedly more quiet morning in Ithaca with a round of golf. He tweeted:

spent morning in Ithaca lookin 4 my balls on the golf course…only found 2…neither was one of mine. #golfinnuendos pic.twitter.com/T0xQEOdB

A reporter with HispanicBusiness.com, doing a profile of Ethan Hawke, was along when the actor was backstage at the Late Late Show last week.

After Letterman
The RSA’s @003lili was outside the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York last week when Craig emerged from his interview on the show to sign some autographs for fans. She posted a series of photos on her website.

Good Grief. Mama G’s diner in Jeannette PA is sensational. Cracker Barrel – we are over #getthebigmama

He also found another treat while on the road:

twitpic.com/b2ytdj Holy Crackers! Nicest thing in my mouth for a long time. #thatsoundeddirty #doyourownjoke
