West Coast Run
Craig Ferguson‘s Hobo Fabulous Tour resumes this week, with stops in Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe, and Anaheim. Next week, Craig will be near Las Vegas and in Austin, Texas. Three shows originally planned for this month have been canceled: San Francisco, Phoenix and Tucson, due to what the venues called scheduling conflicts. Refunds are available from the place you purchased your tickets. We are not aware of any additional shows in the works at this time, but you can see the full list on our Live Comedy Tour page. Craig is expected to make some appearances to promote the release of his new memoir, Riding The Elephant. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear of any. The book reaches bookstores and online outlets May 7th.

Craig In The News
Craig has done some press ahead of the book’s release, including the Today Show, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and Rachel Ray… plus a Rachel Ray bonus clip. He also turned up on a trio of podcasts, Pete HolmesYou Made It Weird, About Last Night with Adam Ray and Brad Williams (see below), and Jonesy’s Jukebox with the one and only Steve Jones.

HTTYD3 Doing Well
The third and final installment of the How To Train Your Dragon series, featuring Craig’s voice as Gobber The Belch is doing well at the box office. Variety says the film made $55 million in it’s opening weekend, which is the best start of the trilogy. The film was reviewed well by The Wrap, IndieWire, CNet and Variety. Craig himself flew into the hidden world in a promotional clip. He was also one of several members of the cast interviewed for the film’s release, at the premiere, and was interviewed by Kids First about his role.

Life On Stage
Among the recent interviews Craig has done, he spent an hour with Adam and Brad from the About Last Night podcast, to talk about his work on stage, the current state of comedy and more.

A New Beginning For RSA News
Dear friends,

Since Febuary 8th, 2010, the day Craig Ferugson joined Twitter, we’ve been providing news and information about Craig. We joined Twitter that very night to become a member of his “Robot Skeleton Army” of Twitter followers, and quickly built a page on Blogger.com, called the Robot Skeleton Army News. We would post an update each day about what Craig was doing on The Late Late Show and what his Twitter followers were tweeting about. Later that year, we developed the RSANews.com website as a central place for fans to gather and get the latest news about our favorite comedian, writer, actor, producer, director and author. As some of you may remember, we posted news every single day, seven days a week for five years, usually taking only one week a year off for the holidays.

As Craig’s following gradually grew from a few thousand people to more than two million, more people heard what we were doing with the Robot Skeleton Army News. We dutifully reported all of the Craig-related news we could find (on our own and with the help of other fans), earning more than two million page views to the website, nearly 2000 fans on Facebook and approaching 8000 followers on Twitter.

When Craig left The Late Late Show at the end of 2014 and there was less day-to-day news to report about guests or things he had talked about on the show, we scaled back to provide weekly updates, continuing to post links on Facebook and Twitter with interesting news and sending out our weekly newsletter. We included details about Craig’s History Channel show Join Or Die, his three-year run on the game show Celebrity Name Game and his daily radio show on SiriusXM.

During that time, we’ve had a chance to interview Craig a couple of times and talk about his many different projects. Looking ahead to 2019, Craig has told us he plans to do some standup comedy appearances in the spring, followed by a short book tour to promote his new memoir in May. Kathie Lee Gifford‘s new movie Then Came You, which co-stars Craig, is due for release soon. He’ll appear as a voice actor in upcoming animated films, including How To Train Your Dragon 3.

Beyond that, he is considering doing more writing, but wants to step back from the day-to-day routine of radio, television and film production for much of the year. And fair enough, he’s earned it. It appears clear that his future projects will focus on short-term commitments, rather than the daily demands of a radio or TV talk show. Eventually, his follow up novel to Between The Bridge And The River, titled Sphinx Of The Mississippi, will be coming out, perhaps in 2019 or 2020. He may work on a few projects in Scotland as well, but they may be widely scattered time-wise.

Between 2010-2014, there was enough news for us to post every day. And from 2015-2018, there has usually been something of interest to report most weeks, although some of them admittedly were pretty quiet weeks. But because of Craig’s plans for the coming year, we anticipate there will be very little public news about our fearless leader in 2019. As a result, after nine years of regular posts, we are planning to take a step back, and end posting on a regular schedule.

Beginning today, we will be posting only occasionally, whenever Craig-related news warrants it. For example, we’ll update everyone when the 2019 stand up tour dates are announced, and let you know when and where Craig will be appearing to promote his book. Any time we put up a post on the website, we’ll post links to it on Facebook and Twitter, and those who are subscribed to our email newsletter will get a link in their inbox. If you haven’t already signed up for the newsletter, now would be a good time, so you’ll know when new posts have been published. Craig has told us he appreciates our work and supports our plans to continue.

We have said it many times, but it bears repeating: We could not have done this without you. Our thanks to the many members of the Robot Skeleton Army, the hobos, the cheeky wee monkeys, the sexy badgers, the naughty donkeys… the fans of Craig Ferguson who have kept up with his projects for all these years. Special thanks to our hobo pals who have given us a heads up to Craig-related news when they were the first to spot it. We will continue to welcome your tips through our Contact Us page or via Twitter.

So it is not goodbye, but so long for now. We’ll talk again soon when Craig pops up in the news. ‘Til next time, a’body.

Tour Wraps Up For The Year
The fall leg Craig Ferguson‘s Hobo Fabulous Tour has wrapped up for 2018. Craig played to big crowds in Atlantic City, near Washington and just outside Philadelphia over the weekend to complete a run of 50 shows that began in September. We are told that more appearances are being planned for the spring, and we will update our Live Comedy Tour page as soon as those are announced.

CBS Sells Television City
CBS has sold CBS Television City, where Craig’s Late Late Show was produced throughout his ten-year run, reports the trade publication Variety. The iconic eight-studio complex at 7800 Beverly Boulevard in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles opened in 1952. It has hosted such important and popular programs as the $10,000 Pyramid, All In The Family, The Burns and Allen Show, The Carol Burnett Show, Hollywood Squares, The Lawrence Welk Show, The Merv Griffin Show, Playhouse 90, The Smothers Brothers Show, Tic Tac Dough, Welcome Back Kotter and many more.

During Craig’s run, the show was based first in Studio 58 and later in the larger Studio 56, both of which had been rehearsal halls in the original building, on the upper level (Craig called it “the basement.”)

The new owners are a group called Hackman Capital, which also owns the historic Culver Studios in Culver City. Under the terms of the agreement, the facility will continue to host shows like American Idol, The Young And The Restless, The Bold And The Beautiful, Dancing With The Stars, the Price Is Right and James Corden‘s current version of The Late Late Show for at least the next five years. CBS still owns CBS Studio Center, the former Republic Studios (also known as CBS Radford) in nearby Studio City, which has 18 sound stages and is the location for many current sitcoms, dramas and game shows for CBS and other networks. It also houses the network’s west coast offices and local television affiliate stations.

Tour Rolls Into Final Week
The 2018 portion of Craig Ferguson‘s Hobo Fabulous Tour rolls into its final week, with stops in Morristown, New Jersey; New Haven, Connecticut; Verona, New York; Atlantic City, New Jersey and Oxon Hill, Maryland near Washington, DC before wrapping up in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Sunday the 9th of December. We are anticipating some additional tour dates in the spring of 2019, and will pass those along as soon as we hear more. You can find all of the current tour venues, dates, times and links to tickets on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Craig Fans Enjoy The Show
We’ve been hearing from hobos from coast to coast over the past few months, telling us about their experiences (without giving away what’s in the show). Most recently, Tracy wrote to tell us: “Saw Craig last night in Columbus (a great way to spend my bday). This satisfied (for now) my need for a Craig fix, as I have been missing hearing him on the radio or seeing him on TV (I can’t believe it has been 4 years since The Late Late Show). I also love that he performs at Riffe Center – the same one he played last time he was in Columbus. It’s a very intimate space and enables him to have hilarious interactions with the audience. Craig is relevant in a manner that no other comedian is. Sometimes he is simply dirty, and sometimes he is intellectual, which for me makes him simply the best.” We agree! If you have seen Craig performing on stage, we’d enjoy hearing your story. You can send it via our Contact Us form, or just point us to your own blog post. We’re happy to share it with the rest of the robot skeleton army.

Media Coverage
Before the show in Munhall, Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh last week, the Tribune-Review talked with Craig about what he does on stage. And the Columbus Dispatch spoke with him as well. And Craig did an extended interview with the Fistful Of Jokes podcast, where he talked in depth about the tour and more. Thanks to the RSA’s @ChandlersDame for letting us know about it!

Infestations
In this monologue from The Late Late Show, Craig talks about fish in Maryland, Snakes in Guam and ferrets.

Midwest Run
Craig Ferguson is making a Midwest run on his Hobo Fabulous Tour this week before moving on to the east coast to wrap up 2018. After performing sold out shows in Michigan, he’ll be visiting Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania, followed by stops in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey in the week ahead. You can see the full list of tour venues, dates, times and links to tickets on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Unique Shows For Each City
As Craig told the Morristown (New Jersey) Daily Record newspaper, he is shaping each show for each individual tour venue, with custom moments designed for the local crowd, and an emphasis on giving his audience a break from the day-to-day stresses of life.

Ted Alexandro’s Latest
Comedian Ted Alexandro, who worked on the road as an opening act for Craig several years ago, has a new comedy special out, and Craig tweeted a note to let people know. Here’s a link to a preview.

Football Fun
In this monologue from The Late Late Show, Craig talks about his fat tie and football.

Tour Resumes After Thanksgiving
Craig Ferguson‘s Hobo Fabulous Tour resumes Friday after the Thanksgiving holiday, with stops in Michigan and Indiana this week, followed by Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania, before wrapping up the 2018 leg along the east coast. We’re told that some additional dates are being considered for the spring of 2019, so we’ll keep you posted. Meanwhile, fans like the RSA’s Alyson are enjoying the show: She says she saw Craig in Waukegan, Illinois and he was “FAB as usual!” See all of the venues, dates, times and ticket links on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Note for fans in Louisville: The November 27th show has been moved from the Brown Theatre to the Bomhard Theater. Both are within the Kentucky Center for the Arts complex on Main Street, so it’s an easy change. As Broadway World reports, new tickets will be delivered by the same method in which you got your original tickets… by mail, electronic tickets or at the will call window. Replacements for tickets purchased in person will be mailed. You can call the box office if you have any questions.

Lynn’s Latest
Craig’s talented sister Lynn Ferguson has penned a new play that debuts in Glasgow this week. The show, called Turns of the Tide, is running at the Oran Mor Theatre through Saturday. One member of the three-person cast wrote about it in the Evening Times newspaper.

Josh Back At It
The multi-talented Josh Robert Thompson returns for another season as a voice actor on the animated series Family Guy. He’s been with the show for eight years, and posted a message on Twitter to celebrate.

History For Dinner
The White House Correspondents Dinner, once hosted by Craig in 2008, has decided against having a comedian headline the event this year, choosing instead to have a historian speak, reports the New York Times. If you haven’t seen Craig’s performance, it’s worth a look.

Swedish Movies
In this monologue from The Late Late Show, talks about Secretariat and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Newsletters Are Back!

After about six months of bumps in the road, it appears that our email newsletters are finally working correctly again. We had multiple problems that took time to sort out, but the fine programmers who worked on the code managed to come up with a good solution to ensure they will reach your inbox reliably. We want to thank them, and thank our many subscribers for putting up with the problems that started back in May. Now that the newsletters are back up and running, we welcome new subscribers. And if you used to get them and don’t any more, you can always sign up again using the form on the right. If possible, we ask that you avoid AOL, Juno or Microsoft (Live, MSN, Hotmail, Passport, Outlook, etc.) addresses, because those have the most trouble receiving them. We send newsletters out every time we put up a new post on the website, and we’ll continue to put links on our Facebook and Twitter pages as well.
