{"id":14528,"date":"2012-01-13T03:15:14","date_gmt":"2012-01-13T03:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rsanews.com\/?p=14528"},"modified":"2012-01-14T03:15:24","modified_gmt":"2012-01-14T03:15:24","slug":"craig-ferguson-letterman-contract-choice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rsanews.com\/new\/craig-ferguson-letterman-contract-choice\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"The Future of Craig and Dave<\/strong><\/span>\"\"<\/a>\r\nThe New York Times expert on late night television, Bill Carter<\/strong> reports in his blog<\/a> that CBS is close to signing David Letterman<\/strong> for another two year contract extension which would keep him at the network into 2014.\u00c2\u00a0 If Dave signs the deal and stays on, it would allow him to host late night television shows for 32 years (11 on NBC and 21 on CBS), surpassing the 30-year mark attained by his idol, Johnny Carson<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 Carter also notes in his article that discussions are continuing with Craig Ferguson<\/strong>, whose contract time frame mirrors Letterman’s.\u00c2\u00a0 Carter points out that while Craig has a clause in his contract that would allow him to take over for Dave upon his retirement, our favorite Scot may not necessarily decide to do so.\u00c2\u00a0 Carter says negotiations currently under way with Craig may include not only a salary increase but a request for a bigger production budget for the Late Late Show.\u00c2\u00a0 Among the media outlets picking up on Carter’s post Thursday were\u00c2\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Variety<\/a>, Gothamist.com<\/a>, the Wall Street Journal<\/a>, the Huffington Post<\/a>, TV.com<\/a>, TVGuide.com<\/a> and Deadline.com<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 The conventional wisdom is that Craig, recently remarried and enjoying family life in Los Angeles, is in a good place right now.\u00c2\u00a0 Another two years of doing the show and touring with stand up shows would seem to be the logical path.\u00c2\u00a0 On the other hand, Craig is known for zigging when other zag.\u00c2\u00a0 We’ll keep you posted.\r\n\r\nPosing on Set<\/strong><\/span>\r\n\"\"<\/a>\r\nThe Huffington Post<\/a> reports on Mercedes Masohn<\/strong>‘s appearance on the Late Late Show, where she talked about her co-star on The Finder<\/em>, Michael Clarke Duncan.<\/strong>\r\n
