Putting an end to swirling speculation about possible replacements, the network says Colbert has signed a five-year deal. Dozens of media outlets have been reporting that Colbert plans to drop his faux conservative commentator character from The Colbert Report<\/em> on Comedy Central and appear as himself on The Late Show<\/em>.\r\n\r\nNow, the media attention will turn back to Craig Ferguson<\/strong>, who has said in countless interviews over the past ten years that he was not interested in moving to 11:30. The question now becomes will he re-up for a longer run on The Late Late Show<\/em>, or depart when his contract expires later this year? As we’ve said before, Craig is the only person whose opinion counts when it comes to his future plans, so we’ll wait and see what he has in store.\r\n\r\nCraig was the first to congratulate Colbert on his new deal:\r\n

It wraps up the story arc and sets the stage for the printed version of the comic to be released later this month. JoJo thanked her project’s supporters<\/a> on the comic’s website.
