He made the announcement on Monday’s show. The network released the news shortly after the show was taped at CBS Television City on Monday afternoon. The news was carried by multiple news outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Broadcasting & Cable<\/a>, TV Guide<\/a> and many more. There will be plenty more news in the coming days, talking about Craig’s departure and possible successors, and as always, we’ll keep you up date on reliable reports. \r\n\r\nCritically Acclaimed Host of the Peabody Award-Winning Late Night Show to Sign Off in December\r\n\r\nCraig Ferguson announced today that he has decided to step down as host of THE LATE LATE SHOW in December 2014.\r\n\r\nFerguson broke the news this afternoon to his studio audience during the taping of the show, which will be broadcast at 12:37-1:37 AM, ET\/PT.\r\n\r\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153During his 10 years as host, Craig has elevated CBS to new creative and competitive heights at 12:30,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153He infused the broadcast with tremendous energy, unique comedy, insightful interviews and some of the most heartfelt monologues seen on television.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\r\n\r\nAdded Tassler, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Craig\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s versatile talents as a writer, producer, actor and comedian speak to his great days ahead. While we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll miss Craig and can’t thank him enough for his contributions to both the show and the Network, we respect his decision to move on, and we look forward to celebrating his final broadcasts during the next eight months.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\r\n\r\nSaid Ferguson, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcconsciously uncoupling,\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\r\n\r\nFerguson has several projects in the works, including hosting \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Celebrity Name Game,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d a syndicated game show beginning fall 2014, as well as developing television projects via his Green Mountain West production company.\r\n\r\nSince its debut in 2005, THE LATE LATE SHOW with CRAIG FERGUSON has won critical acclaim for its unpredictable style and its host\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s versatility and charm. The Scottish-born actor, writer, director and producer brought a unique approach to late night television, earning the show a Peabody Award in 2009, and an Emmy Award nomination for himself in 2006. The program\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s signatures include an extended, unscripted monologue and guest interviews noted for their free-wheeling nature.\r\n\r\nFerguson has also received critical praise for his more serious commentaries, notably on the passing of his father, the Boston Marathon bombing, obtaining his U.S. citizenship and dealing with his own addictions after Britney Spears\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 infamous meltdown in 2007.\r\n\r\nHe has taken THE LATE LATE SHOW out of the studio with remotes from the streets of Paris and Scotland, as well as broadcasts from Miami and New Orleans in conjunction with CBS’s coverage of the 2009 and 2013 Super Bowls. Peter Lassally is the executive producer; Michael Naidus is the producer.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\nWhat’s Ahead for Craig?<\/strong><\/span>\r\nAs the release above indicates, Craig has lots of projects going on, not the least of which is a new, daily game show called Celebrity Name Game<\/em>, which debuts this fall on stations across most of the country. He’s also executive producing shows like Naked After Dark<\/em> and Shark After Dark<\/em> for the Discovery Channel, as well as the new I F-ing Love Science<\/em> for the Science Channel this fall. He is also an executive producer and screenwriter for an upcoming feature film Last Man Out<\/em>, based on the novel Ghosts of Belfast<\/em> by Stuart Neville<\/strong>. He’s on the road for a few dozen dates a year as a stand up comedian. And he keeps saying he might write a follow-up novel to Between The Bridge and the River<\/em>. Plus, he’s hard at work being a father, so he has plenty to keep him busy. The decision doesn’t come as a surprise to us, with all he’s been building in recent years.
